A welcome change comes on January 15th at 11:52 a.m. EST, when Mercury puts on the brakes and re-positions himself to begin moving forward again. He has been retrograde since December 26th, affecting the way we think and communicate, as well as help cause delays and technological malfunctions. We won't completely be out of the woods until about 3 days after his direction change. He'll need that time to readjust back to his normal speed. Until February 5th, Mercury will retrace his steps from 5 to 22 degrees of Capricorn, passing for the third time. Where do these degrees in Capricorn fall in your chart? For alignments Mercury will form with other planets, please check my original post on Mercury in Capricorn ~ click here. Mercury remains in Capricorn until February 10, 2010.
As I originally posted on the Mercury Retrograde article:
I traveled to be with family for Mercury's transit in Capricorn from 5 to 22 degrees. It'll be interesting to see how the next few weeks unfolds.
Which part of your life does this Mercury transit influence? Look to the Capricorn-ruled house and match the sign and 5 to 22 degrees on your birth chart. I just discovered your blog - love it! Here's a question for you. I have Mercury Rx in my natal chart. I am ready (chomping at the bit, actually) to sign some legally binding papers, but have been waiting until January 15th. Now, I'm wondering if I should wait until February 5th after the stationing period is over. But with natal Rx Mercury, does it even matter? Thanks for any tips you have.
That's a really good question. Merc-rx in natal gives you a bit more advantage during a transiting Merc-rx period than the rest of us lot. You don't have to wait until after the 15th. Just make sure to go through every line item with scrutiny & make sure your understanding is also the other party's interpretation of things, especially if the terms or some parts of the agreement were altered during the retrograde period.
Are you are Mercury-ruled 1st, 3rd, 7th, 9th or 10th house? Just curious.
HI Astrogrrl,
I don't know so much about astrology, but a few years ago i took an astronomy class, and got some amazing software which allowed one to look from any position on earth or another planet at any angle at any time past present or future.
so being a very beggining astrology person i checked out the position of the sun in relation to the signs of the zodiac and noticed that they weren't liing up the way I expected. I then started looking at different times, and discovered for my self the proccesion of the zodiac. I realised that the dates we use in astrology for each sun sign were actually acurate two thousand years ago, but the zodiac had slid out of these timings over the years.
I started looking into astrology and discovered that the indian system of astrology accounted for this proccession of the zodiac, and actually found a website that did chart readings based on these calculations.
What i found and continue to find is that although i find some truth in the western chart reading, the indian system has given me allot more insight into my life and personality.
Hi Andrew, Thank you for the feedback. In 2003, I actually got two solar return readings for myself -- one that's precessed and the other not -- from an astrologer that practiced both western and vedic astrology. I was also curious about the precession. Much of the energies were similar for both charts/readings, but were allocated to different houses and some timelines also differed. By mid-year into my return year, I noticed that the non-precessed chart/reading rang truer to what I was going through at that time. I still have the charts that were cast and notes I'd taken. That trend continued for my entire solar return year. Anyway, I'm glad that you found vedic astrology and that it's more accurate for you. My experience, however, was the opposite. Although I practice western astrology, I hold vedic astrology in high regards. There is room for variety in the craft.
