Pluto Returns to Aries Point ~ Aug. 6 to Oct. 17, 2009

Exclusion - Pluto with Charon by Alexei Kozachenko at nameless-designer.deviantart.com
Two days ago on August 6, Pluto slipped back to zero degree of Capricorn. This early degree of of any cardinal sign is said to be Aries Point, a sensitive spot. One of my favorite astrologers, Celeste Teal, explains it best (click here for her site):

The true Aries Point degree is 0 Aries, however, the 0 degree of the four Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are all referred to as Aries Point degrees. This beginning degree of the Cardinal signs has similar connotations to the angles of a chart and is an indicator of eventful times when occupied by a planet or found on a house cusp. These points are indicative of a spectacular out rush of energies. There is frequently an involvement with the world at large. Outsiders or those who’re considered an expert in some area becomes involved in one’s personal matters. Ramifications of events often have a domino effect into each personal area of the life as represented by these four Cardinal points: personal, family, relationships and status.

So, what could this mean? Pluto returning to zero degree of Capricorn signify different things to each of us since Pluto's transit in Capricorn influences each of our birth charts differently. Let's explore then, what this period would generally mean. Pluto last entered the zodiac sign of Capricorn on November 26, 2008 (November 27 in other parts of the world) and remained at zero degree until Christmas Eve, December 24, 2008.

Pluto's current retrograde motion has taken us back to his early days in this sign. In doing so, he may highlight issues, events, and situations of those last weeks in 2008. Some issues may have gone without resolution; others may have been resolved for one party, but not the other; some important details may have been hidden or have not yet occurred at that time ... No matter which of these -- between now and mid-October, we may see issues resurface, truths uncovered, or current situations that are somehow "linked" or reminiscent of 2008.

Pluto has been in retrograde motion since April 4, 2009 and will remain so until September 11, 2009. Retrograde periods are a time when the planet's energies are turned inward; its energies are best expended in reflection and re-assessment. Pluto represents empowerment, releasing what no longer works, in order for regeneration/rebirth, thereby bringing "power" back into one's own control. In the sign Capricorn, on a personal level, Pluto's retrograde might be a time to re-examine long term goals, re-evaluate professional pursuits, reestablish one's public persona, make plans on what type of reputation one would like to establish, let go of old belief systems and replace it with something that reflects one's current life, or restructure one's core foundation.

Pluto is a slow moving planet and his work/influence on each of us unfolds slowly but remarkably life-altering. He first entered Capricorn late January 2008, but didn't get too settled into the sign, having only stayed until June 2008. Could it be that the enlightenment about to be discovered, closures about to occur, or beginnings that are about to be embarked upon are related to as far back as January 2008? Hmm ... you let me know...

As a Cancer-Sun, Pluto in Capricorn transits my 7th house of partnerships; and as Virgo-Rising, the sign Capricorn governs my 5th house of true love and creative enterprise, while he currently transits my 4th house which represents family, roots, and the past. There may be obsolete fundamental precepts and/or past memories (natal 4th) that I have been holding on to and that hinders me from fully prospering in my creative endeavors (natal 5th) and enjoying success in love (natal 5th) and long-term relationships (natal 7th).

What influences will Pluto's return at Aries Point have on your life? Look to the house/s governed by Capricorn, as well as planets and/or house angles within 0 to 1 degree of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) to gain insight on how and where in your life this zero-degree Pluto in Capricorn transit might be influential. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the sign Capricorn.

Hi Karin, Wow! I have not seen that in a chart. Is your professional life a very public one or have a career that services/reaches to the public/large group of people? Are you driven to succeed at almost any cost but not really satisfied so career/goals get re-invented every few years? Is there a constant pull between home life and public life? How do you achieve between the two?

Hi I was wondering what the significance of having my natal moon (positioned at 0'05 Aries and in house 10) squaring my natal Neptune (positioned at 0'53(R) Capricorn). My midheaven is in Pisces so it is ruled by Neptune as well. My moon is also conjunct to my midheaven in house 10 as well.

Hi Astrogrrl,

I too have mercury at 0 Aries conjunct MC. With Saturn now opposing this I feel like I have absolutely no illusions anymore. I've been working very hard (obsessively at times) and not getting anywhere fast. I'm quite angered by the frivolity and delusions of others in what seem to be critical times.

Canada

Hello Erin, With natal Mercury conjunct MC, you definitely have something to say and you are passionate about your ideas. You have also been under the umbrella of transiting Pluto square your Merc & MC. Have you considered that you might have to be driven to 'act' upon your convictions? Perhaps the opposition with transiting Saturn is about the responsibility to others, informing/educating, your message being heard? Thank you for the post, and do come back and keep me posted.

Blessings,
Jan

Hello Amanda, My apologies for such a delayed reply. I missed the notification for your post which I thank you for, by the way. To answer your question, whatever you choose to do in life (w/career or long term goals), it must be something you believe in, something that rings true in the deepest core of your being. Anything less will leave you unsatisfied. It's possible to have many jobs or perhaps even change your mind often on a career path because deep down you are seeking for something that 'fits'. What 'fits' may also change with time and maturity and station in life. So, it's ok if you find yourself moving to the rhythm of your own drum. All you need to be is satisfied at the core which, in real life, is easier said than done :)

Throughout next year, transiting Pluto and Saturn will form challenging alignments to your Moon. This may be a time where a new course/path forms. Birthing something is never easy but in the long run is satisfying. Transiting Neptune is now moving forward again, be open and aware of any insight she may have to enlighten you with. Whatever inner work you've done over the past 5 or so months, may manifest in your external world in the following weeks.

Again, thank you for the post, Amanda. Let me know how things progress for you :)

Blessings,
Jan
